I never knew that singing in another language could get me into such deep shit. But that's what happened to me a few weeks a go when I sang in xhosa at an event. what have you guys ever done to piss your parents off in public?

Hmmm. I can't think of anything that I did that pissed them off a lot but maybe just annoyed them a bit. lol I was a good child until I ran off with my fiance. hehehehe

One time, my family (extended family included) was putting on this graduation party for those of the Hmong community who had graduated in our district. My parents wanted my sister and I to be in charge of the opening speech and some of the music for the night. My sister doesn't sing so I had to come up with some songs to perform and spice up the night a bit. However, my sister doesn't speak Hmong very well either so I had to help her write her speech and fix her grammar and pronounciation. Well, the night of the party came and she couldn't get up there and talk because she knew she would make a fool out of herself by saying the wrong things. So I was told to go up there and make her speech for her! lol I can sing in front of a crowd but when it comes to making a speech, I fall apart, as I soon realized. I got up there and started welcoming everyone and thanking them for joining us. I spoke clearly and slowly and didn't slur my words up, I might add. hehehehe But my nervousness kept rising. Where was the music? I need my keyboard to comfort me! hehehehe Needless to say, I just froze on stage and blurted out loud: "I'm too scared! I can't do it!" My parents were mortified. heheheeh They asked me later what the hell I thought I was doing saying that while I was making my speech and when I told them I was too afraid, they just didn't understand. lol It's weird how I find singing on stage much easier than making a speech. hehehe My mom told me that I should've just sang the speech instead of speaking it but yeah. hehehehe So that's my tale of public humility towards my parents. They've never asked me to make a speech since for which I am glad!

At 15, I sang Nobody's Child at the top of my voice on Buchanan Street, while holding out my black wooly hat, {it was November, and feckin freezing for money} Dad just laughed but Mio Mama did not know where to look.

One time Mom her bf, and I went out to eat and I wanted a to go cup for the rest of my drink, but for some reason Mom told me I couldn't get one. So when the waitress came back for the last time I just simply asked for one anyhow when Mom had her back turned, and when the waitress brought me one Mom got all upset with me but by then there really wasn't much anybody could do about it.

Well i can't remember anything I've deliberately done, though I'm sure there's alot. Except that when my best friends Michelle and delilah a nd I would go out with my mom to the store we'd always be gettting into trouble. Whether it was making messes in the underwear iles, getting the make up all over ourselves, or running people over with shopping carts, we'd make some form of mischief

I simply piss mum of in public by arguing with her or because she thinks I nag her all the time. she says she wants to have conversations with me but it doesn't always work. When I was little I did the thing all toddlers do at some point during this phase and pissed my parents off with one hell of a temper tantrum, either because I was bored and mum didn't even try to get me involved with the shopping, I wanted them to go back to using the buggy because I couldn't be bothered to walk, or I wanted something "now" not "maybe" or "later" just "now". Whenever mum said "maybe" it usually meant "no" or "never" so that would certainly be a very good way to set me off.

I think something that would get to my mom when I was younger was that I would scream, cry, and not stay still when I had to get shots or blood tests. I would usually have to be held down for that, and even when my mom would get fed up and spank me, or try to talk to me, nothing would help. Now, I've grown out of the not staying still part, but the last time I got a blood test (which was only a few years ago), I still cried and felt like I was going to faint. So I still feel very nervous whith shots, even though I try not to think about it. For that reason, I think that's why I'll now need to update my immunizations, as I skipped the ones I needed since 2001.

one thing that pisses mum off is when she forgets where she's going, and i really do shout at her, maybe it's because of the way i am at the moment, another thing is, i hate photos and whenever one's taken i always try and run away, thzat really gets her goat up.

Post 17 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 18-Mar-2006 13:38:03

Well like you, Tinkerbell, I hate anything to do with needles and when I was little, I'd be screaming at least half an hour before the bloody things got anywhere near me. I'm hyposensitive, so any pain's about ten times worse for me than for other people.

Post 18 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Saturday, 18-Mar-2006 14:38:15

i hate needles too, and unfortunately i've seen them waaay too much in my lifetime so far. i'm 18, and i still have to hold someone's hand everytime i get a shot. i don't cry, i just have to do that and i'm fine.

My Mom and I got along great, but I used to try to piss off my grandmother because everything she did pissed me off. I can't think of anything in particular that I did, but I was just really bitchy and used cuss words because it shocked her. LOL

Post 22 by sparkie (the hilljack) on Sunday, 03-Sep-2006 13:46:48

What I did when I was having a photo taken is try to flash the camera. Then there was this one time when we were taking pictures for christmas cards and I flipped the camera off and my mom got so mad she used that same picture in the card lol.

I cursed my stepmom off in several african languages once. Oh shit did that get her going. then today i was talking to a friend from canada and she insisted that the person would call our house. she got so pissed she made me unhook the microphone. I've got one up on her though, i know where she put it. I heard her go into her room with it.

Post 24 by WandererRosetta (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 10-Sep-2006 0:22:10

well done. mind finding it so we can yibber away, or call my phonje or something?

I think the worst thing I ever did when I was two, my grandparents were rolling me about in one of those carts, and I don't know what they were doing, but they said something and I said, clear as day, "Don't piss me..."
My grandmother told my grandfather, restrained her laughter until she was out of earshot then laughed like all hell.

well, when i was a kid, i wanted to feel everything in the store so my hands were always trying to touch something. A few times, i groped some people. lol Now I just correct grammar all the time, and that gets them all excited. hahahaha

Post 26 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Saturday, 14-Oct-2006 9:35:39

Yeah. When we went shopping when I was a baby, I'd reach out and feel things in the clothes, shops, supermarket or wherever my mum was trying to buy something. I was just curious to know what things like pieces of meat on the bone, various fruits and vegetables and things in packets looked like before mum chopped them all up and set them on the table in front of me. i remember playing with these teeny little tins of tomatoes once because they fitted nicely in my hands. I was building towers and all sorts with them. When we got out of the car, I used to feel the car parked to our left as that's where I normally sat in my child seat, while mum and Gran unfolded my buggy so we could go round the shops. I couldn't do anything else to piss them off really. Mum used to give me a packet of hoolerhoops or tube of fruit pastels to keep me amused and out of trouble while she pushed me round the supermarket in the trolley.

I loved touching everything in the store too when I was little (including people.) Once I was also singing really loud in a mall; I was about 5 years old at the time. The funniest one was when I was 4 and I popped out my prosthetic eyes in a restaurant! I was mad for some reason, so I decided to pop them out. My parents weren't so happy with me, and I'm sure a lot of people freeked out! :)
